How Automatic Focus Restore Works

Vibe Typer saves your active window before recording and restores focus after transcription completes, so text lands exactly where you left off.

What It Does

When you start recording, Vibe Typer remembers which application window was active. After transcription finishes and the text is inserted, Vibe Typer automatically brings that window back to the foreground. This means you can switch windows during recording without worrying about where your text will end up.

Linux (X11)Yes
Linux (Wayland)No

Wayland Limitation

Wayland's security model prevents applications from programmatically setting window focus. When the recording indicator hides, your compositor may return focus to the previous window, but this behavior is not guaranteed and depends on your specific compositor.

Configuration

No configuration is needed. Automatic focus restore is always enabled on supported platforms.
