iPhone and iPad
The Vibe Typer keyboard is dictation-only; it has no letters. You switch to it, speak, and iOS hands you back to your usual keyboard once the text lands.
Turning the keyboard on
- 1Open the Vibe Typer app and sign in. The keyboard reads your sign-in state from the app, so this has to come first.
- 2In the app, tap Open Settings. iOS opens Settings → Vibe Typer.
- 3Tap Keyboards and turn on both switches: Vibe Typer Dictation and Allow Full Access.
- 4Allow the microphone when the app asks for it. iOS keyboards cannot record, so the app is what captures your voice.
- 5In any app, hold the globe key and pick Vibe Typer Dictation.
Why Allow Full Access is required
The keyboard extension makes no network requests at all, and it does not store, log or transmit anything you type.
What the switch unlocks
iOS gates a keyboard’s access to the shared app container and keychain behind Full Access, and that shared storage is the keyboard’s only source of data: it is where the app keeps your sign-in state and the finished transcript.
With it switched off
The keyboard cannot tell that you are signed in and has nothing to insert, so it shows a disabled state instead.
What the keyboard can reach →Why it sends you to the app to dictate
iOS keyboard extensions cannot reach the microphone, so recording happens in the Vibe Typer app.
The app holds a microphone session armed in the background so dictation can start the moment the keyboard appears, and that armed state releases the microphone after 60 minutes without use.
If the armed session has lapsed
The keyboard reads Tap to open Vibe Typer, then return here to dictate. Tapping it opens the app, which re-arms the microphone and asks you to swipe right along the bottom edge to go back, because iOS gives an app no way to return you itself. No recording starts while you are in the app.
Linux, Windows & macOS
These are the ones that come up most on the desktop app. Each has a full guide behind it.
Account and billing
Both are handled inside the app, on every platform.
Managing your subscription
Billing runs through Polar, and the app opens the portal for you. On desktop it is Settings → Account → Manage billing, or Manage billing in the account menu. On iPhone and iPad it is Manage on the plan row in Settings, or Manage plan on the Usage tab. Signed in on this site, Manage billing in the nav opens the same portal.
There is no checkout in the iOS app; it picks up whatever plan your account is already on. If your Pro access comes from a team seat, your organisation’s billing admin manages the plan.
Subscriptions and business seats →Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, from either app: Settings → Account → Delete account. It is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes your account, your synced settings and custom dictionary, and your usage history, and it clears the transcripts stored on that device. An active subscription is cancelled immediately, rather than running to the end of the billing period.
One exception: if your account owns a team plan, deletion is refused until you cancel that plan or transfer ownership, because your team’s seats depend on it.
