Effortlessly fast.

Speak, and cleaned-up writing in your style shows up in whatever app your cursor is in. Nothing in the category keeps up.

You'll barely open it.

Vibe Typer lives in a hotkey. The window is just where it keeps the receipts: every take, every edit it made, and the hours it gave back.

The hours, counted.

Words, dictations, speaking pace and a streak calendar, so you can see what talking instead of typing actually bought you.

Every edit, on the record.

Magic Formatter shows its working: what you said, what it typed, and exactly what changed in between. Kept on your device, never on ours.

Tuned to how you talk.

Set the tone it writes in, teach it names and jargon it keeps mishearing, and decide whether “rewrite” and “reply” run commands or just get typed.

The Vibe Typer Activity screen, showing 17 hours 27 minutes saved in the last 30 days, 56,780 words across 1,336 dictations, a 149 words-per-minute average, and charts for time saved, speaking pace and consistency.
The Vibe Typer History screen. A transcription reads “Hey Priya, the review moved to Friday. Can you send the deck before then?” beneath a Magic Formatter badge, with the original speech shown below it: “Hey Priya, um, the review moved to Thursday. Sorry, Friday. New paragraph. Can you send the deck before then, and uh.”
The Vibe Typer Formatting settings screen, showing the Magic Formatter switch, a tone control set to Normal, AI command modes, and a dictionary of spoken phrases mapped to the text they become, such as “super base” to “Supabase”.
Magic Formatter

One instruction. Every dictation.

Tell Magic Formatter how you’d like your writing, in your own words, and it applies your style to every single dictation. “Always use a concise style.” “Use British spelling.” “Never use em dashes.” If you can describe it, it follows it. Free on every plan.

It’s not just us saying it.

Doctors, engineers, writers, people on their tenth failed dictation tool: here’s what they say once they’ve been using it a few weeks.

I had to find an alternative after I moved to Linux and found Vibe Typer. Instantly signed up as soon as I reached my free limit.

It’s the fastest of all available right now.

I tried a few voice to text including more expensive ones but yours is best. I am on Windows and Linux so this is icing on the cake.

This is one of the most practical tools we’ve adopted to improve efficiency in the clinic.

I use Arch with KDE 6 Wayland and VT works perfectly. When I switched from X11 it automatically migrated the settings. I’m really impressed with VT’s polish.

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

Yes. Audio is processed in memory to generate a transcript. No recordings are stored. We don’t store transcripts or AI request/response content on our servers (except a short-lived in-memory cache for delivery retries).

Vibe Typer supports speech recognition in 99 languages, plus Automatic mode for language detection. Select your language in the app settings for accurate transcription, or use Automatic when you switch between languages.

Works well with accents. Our AI models are trained on diverse speech patterns from around the world for more accurate transcription across different accents.

Linux, Windows, and macOS, including native support for both X11 and Wayland sessions on Linux, which most voice typing tools don’t offer at all. As far as we know, no other tool covers all of these, and one account carries your settings across every machine.

Yes. Vibe Typer ships as a portable AppImage that runs on modern 64-bit distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Arch, Linux Mint and more) under both Wayland and X11. Text lands cleanly in any app, including terminals and code editors.

Yes. You can set any hotkey combination you prefer to activate Vibe Typer. Choose whatever works best for your workflow.

Yes. Magic Formatter cleans up every dictation automatically, and you can give it custom instructions in your own words, like “always use a concise style” or “never use em dashes”, and it applies them to every dictation, free on every plan. Facts are protected: names, numbers, dates, and times never change. For one-off changes, select any text and say “rewrite” with an instruction.

The Free plan gives you 2,000 words of transcription and 20 AI operations per month, which makes it great for trying Vibe Typer out. Pro removes all limits: unlimited voice typing, unlimited AI operations, and everything else the app offers, for $8/month billed annually, or $10/month month-to-month. Magic Formatter, including custom instructions, is free on both plans.
