Common questions

Vibe Typer is hearing silence. The wrong microphone is selected, or its input volume is too low, and the transcription model fills the gap with a polite closing. Check that the microphone you want is your system default input, then select it explicitly under Settings, System, Input Device rather than leaving it on Default.

Vibe Typer cannot reach a working Secret Service keyring. Install and unlock a Secret Service provider such as GNOME Keyring or KWallet, and log out and back in if the error started after a suspend, an update, or a password change. Only recreate your Login keyring once you have confirmed the keyring is genuinely broken, because that step can delete saved passwords.

Vibe Typer draws its recording indicator in a transparent overlay window, and some compositors apply blur or translucency effects to transparent windows. On KDE Plasma, turn off the Blur desktop effect under System Settings, Window Management, Desktop Effects. Third-party blur effects that support exclude lists accept the window class vibe-typer.

99 languages, plus automatic language detection. Pick one in settings, star the five you use most, or leave it on Automatic and let Vibe Typer detect what you are speaking.

Your transcription worked. On COSMIC under Wayland, when clipboard data-control is unavailable, Vibe Typer leaves the transcript on your clipboard rather than sending a background paste shortcut that could land in the wrong place. Click into the field you want and press Ctrl+V.

No. Audio is processed for transcription and is not stored as recordings on Vibe Typer servers. Recent transcripts stay on your device in local history, which you can clear or disable from the app.
